Project Information:
The Driskos Tunnel is a twin tunnel located in section 2.3 of Egnatia Odos which spans from Drosohori to Arachthos River. The project included:
– the construction of a twin tunnel (left branch: 4.572,00m, right branch: 4.606,79m).
–the construction of twelve cross-passages which connect the two main tunnels (three of which enable vehicle reversal).
– the construction of four widened parking niches in every road tunnel.
– the construction of the necessary niches for the inspection and maintenance of the tunnel, the drainage system as well as the emergency cabinets.
– the construction of the entrance and exit portal structures.

Scope of Work:
Our firm's scope of work for the project included the following services:
- Evaluation of the geotechnical investigations and design of the primary tunnel lining with the NATM method for six categories of support measures (A to F) for the road tunnels, as well as the cross-passages and niches. The design included the primary lining design for the tunnels portals and the design of a ventilation shaft.
- Final design of the permanent lining for all the cross sections of the tunnels, the cross-passages and the tunnels portals (cut & covers).
